Introduction
Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) and Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), in collaboration with national universities, Department of Chemistry Malaysia (Kimia Malaysia) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Malaysia Section, are jointly organising the 16th Malaysian Chemical Congress (16MCC) from October 12-14, 2010 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Malaysian Chemical Congress, or MCC, is the biennial scientific meeting of IKM where educators, researchers and other professionals in chemistry from Malaysia and other countries present their research findings, technology innovation and latest developments in analytical and laboratory services in all major areas of chemistry.
- The 16th Malaysian Chemical Congress (16MCC) in 2010 is of special significance to Malaysian scientists, educators and professionals. This is the time that the world, and also Malaysia, is faced with major problems such as financial meltdown, issues of sustainable development, climate change, food safety and security, and energy and water crisis. It is hoped that chemical research and development, technology innovation, commercialisation and entrepreneurship will help to provide solutions to some of these problems. This is especially true for Malaysian scientists to come up with relevant knowledge and technology innovation to spur sustainable development and economic advancement in the Malaysian economy. The theme of 16MCC is thus especially chosen to be:
“Research, Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship in Chemistry: Towards a High-Income Economy by 2020”
For 16MCC, the following six major areas in chemistry are being identified:
Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry (IBC)
Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry (OBC)
Physical, Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (PTC)
Environmental and Green Chemistry (EGC)
Food and Medicinal Chemistry (FMC)
Materials and Polymer Chemistry (MPC)
16MCC also features a special session on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Chemistry” in conjunction with the Malaysian Year of Innovation 2010. Successful Malaysian entrepreneurs with innovation in chemistry will be invited to present special lectures.
Language
The official language of 16MCC is English.
Invitation to present papers at 16MCC
