Basic Chemistry
  • Elements, compounds and mixtures. Symbols, formulas and equations. The periodic tables
    Metals, nonmetals and metalloids.
  • Ionic and molecular compounds (including simple organic compounds) Chemical nomenclature

Mole Concepts and Quantitative Chemistry
  • Atomic mass unit, atomic weight, molecular/formula weight
  • Mole concept
  • Measuring moles of elements and compounds Percentage composition
  • Empirical and molecular formulas
  • Writing and balancing chemical equations

Reaction Stoichiometry and Calculations
  • Concentrations of solutions and dilutions
  • Stoichiometry problems and using chemical equations in calculations.

Titrimetric and Gravimetric Analyses

Trainer's Biodata

Assoc Prof Dr. Ishak bin Ahmad

Dr. Ishak bin Ahmad will be the trainer of the workshop.  He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a B. Sc. degree in 1995 and proceeded to further his education at UMIST Manchester, UK where he obtained his PhD in 2000. He is currently a senior lecturer at UKM teaching physical & polymer chemistry.  Among his duties include teaching practical chemistry for the undergraduate student. Dr Ishak has secured many grants to conduct research in polymer chemistry and has produced more than 40 research papers. Dr Ishak has conducted lectures and talks at local and international seminars and workshops.

Dr Azizan Bin Ahmad
Dr Azizan bin Ahmad, B Sc (Hons), M Sc and PhD is one of the trainers for this workshop. Currently, he is the senior lecturer at Faculty Science and Technology in UKM.
He has secured many grants to conduct research and produced numeral research papers since 1980.
Dr Azizan has also conducted lectures and talks at local and international seminars and workshops.
