After completing this section, you should be able to:
  • Describe & identify types of errors in chemical analysis
  • Appreciate the importance of statistics in chemical measurements.
  • Aware of various probability distributions: normal, rectangular & triangular
  • Determine the confidence interval in a measurement
  • Estimate uncertainty of test result obtained from linear regression equation
  • Identify outliers from a set of analytical data by statistical analysis
  • Carry out significance testing for differences, if any, between two methods, techniques or analysts’ performance
  • Understand the basic one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA)
  • Able to explain what the concept of detection limit is
  • Overview of SAMM Requirements

Trainer's Biodata
MR. CHANG HON FONG 

Mr Chang Hon Fong, B.Sc. Hons. and M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry is currently the Director of Industry & Trade Tariff Classification Division at the Department of Chemistry Malaysia. He has been a scientific officer at the Department of Chemistry Malaysia since 1978. Mr Chang is a Lead Assessor for the Department of Standards Malaysia since 1996. He has attended several specific training related to quality auditing and quality management. Mr Chang is involved in the documentation of the Department of Chemistry Malaysia’s Quality System and is also the Department’s Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 and ISO 17025. He has conducted courses and workshops on ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
