INTRODUCTION
Under the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standard of Exposure of Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000, it is mandatory that a Chemical Health Risks Assessment (CHRA) is performed when chemicals hazardous to health are being used in the workplace.
A CHRA has the following objectives:
- To identify the hazards posed by each chemical substance used, stored, handled or transported within the workplace;
- To evaluate the degree of exposure of employees to the chemicals hazardous to health;
- To evaluate the adequacy of existing control measures;
- To conclude on the significance of the health risk posed by the chemicals hazardous to health; and
- To recommend further appropriate control measures to prevent or reduce risks.
This workshop will acquaint participants with the procedure for carrying out CHRA of work units in laboratories.
Trainer's Biodata
Mr. Lim Yok Chaw Mr. Lim will be the trainer of the workshop. He is a qualified OSH officer of the Department of Chemistry Malaysia and besides his other duties is responsible for overseeing the CHRA programme for the laboratories of the department of Chemistry Malaysia.
