After nine successful conferences on analytical sciences all over Asia, Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) together with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Jabatan Kimia Malaysia (Kimia Malaysia) and Persatuan Sains Analisis Malaysia (ANALIS), are jointly organizing the 10th Asian Conference on Analytical Sciences (ASIANALYSIS X) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 11 - 13, 2009.
In the present world of internet and globalization, analyytical sciences provide the best instrument to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and innovative products and services. Rapid development in analytical sciences and technologies have enabled us to determine and measure the most minute of trace constituents or cantaminants. It also allows us to trace the changes in physical and chemical properties and even physiological effects, of materials and products due to the presence of trace levels of cantaminants or added substances. Analytical science, therefore, is key to new and innovative products and services.
ASIANALYSIS X will provide an avenue for analytical scientists, laboratory managers, instruments developers and manufacturers to discuss and exchange views and information on the latest developments in analytical sciences.
Theme
The theme of ASIANALYSIS X is “Analytical Sciences: Towards New and Innovative Quality Products and Services”
Objectives
The objectives of ASIANALYSIS X are as follows:
- To discuss and review the latest developments in all areas of analytical sciences.
- To promote best practices and efficiency in all areas of analytical sciences.

SKAM22
The Malaysian Symposium on Analytical Sciences, or Simposium Kimia Analisis Malaysia (SKAM) in Bahasa Malaysia, is an annual symposium of the Persatuan Sains Analisis Malaysia (ANALIS). SKAM first started in 1987 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) when a group of analytical science lecturers cum researchers from various local universities decided to organize the first symposium which was warmly participated by scientists and researchers from all over the country. For the first six years the symposium was known as SKAK (Simposium Kimia Analisis Kebangsaan), and the responsibility of organizing was rotated among the institutions of higher learning in Peninsular Malaysia, such as UKM, USM, UTM, UPM and UiTM. In 1993 Persatuan Sains Analisis Malaysia (ANALIS) or the Malaysian Analytical Sciences Society was officially registered, and this marked the new era for analytical sciences and activities in the country. Subsequently the symposium was re-branded as SKAM and today it has become an annually awaited function by the 'regular followers' as well as young researchers embarked in analytical sciences research. This year will mark the 22nd SKAM and the overwhelming participation and support from participants is expected to be just like the previous SKAMs.
