ExTech 2011
13th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies 2011

September 27-29, 2011 Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Joint Organisers:

Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM)

and

the National University of Singapore (NUS)

Introduction
The International Symposium on Extraction Technologies (ExTech) series began in 1999, and has been held annually around the world (e.g. Poznań, Poland (2010), Rapid City, USA (2009), Bruges, Belgium (2008), Ålesund, Norway (2007) and York, UK (2006), etc.).

The Symposium is the premier event for sample preparation, and provides the perfect opportunity for all researchers and practitioners to present, discuss and exchange ideas in all areas of sample preparation and extraction. The focus in each symposium is on the fundamentals, development of novel approaches and new technologies of extraction and sample preparation in various fields of analytical sciences. These fields include eco- and enviroanalytics and forensics, bioanalytics, nanoanalysis, natural products chemistry, and food and flavor chemistry.

ExTech 2011
For the first time, an ExTech event will be held in Asia, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2011. Kuala Lumpur, or generally known affectionately as KL, is the international, modern and vibrant capital city of Malaysia.

The organizers invite all researchers and practitioners of sample preparation and extraction, from academia to commercial laboratories, to Kuala Lumpur, to participate in ExTech 2011 – the 13th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies which will be hosted jointly by Institut Kimia Malaysia (Malaysian Institute of Chemistry, or IKM) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) in the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur from September 27-29, 2011.

Symposium Topics
 New developments and technologies in sample preparation and extraction
 Eco- and environmental and forensic analysis
 Bioanalysis (biomedical, clinical, pharmaceutical analysis, in vivo sampling and analysis)
 Nanoanalysis
 Natural products chemistry
 Food and flavor chemistry
 Fundamental studies in sample preparation

covering techniques such as, but not limited to, miniaturized approaches (solid-phase microextraction, stir bar sorptive extraction, liquid-phase microextraction), liquid-phase extraction, solid-phase extraction, molecularly-imprinted polymers, novel materials including nanoparticles, microwave-assisted extraction, extraction with unconventional solvents, pressurized extraction, headspace extraction, purge-and-trap, microfluidics, hyphenation, automation, etc.
